The Ref. 2915-3 Speedmaster is the final reference of the first-generation Speedmaster, produced exclusively in 1959. Positioned at the transitional stage leading to the subsequent 2998 series, it is distinguished by the presence of multiple configuration variations. This particular example features a black “BASE 1000” bezel insert together with alpha hands, including the slightly elongated hour hand commonly referred to as the “long hour” variant. Due to its single-year production, the Ref. 2915-3 appears infrequently on the market and is regarded as one of the more desirable and scarce references among early Speedmasters.
Condition
The case shows natural wear consistent with age, with no evidence of excessive polishing. The dial and hands retain their original radium luminous material, which has developed dark oxidation over time, consistent with its age. The crown and pushers, being wear components, have been replaced at a later date. The movement has been serviced by our workshop and is functioning properly, including the chronograph mechanism. No accessories are included. Omega has currently suspended the issuance of Extracts from the Archives and Certificates of Authenticity; therefore, the possibility of obtaining such documentation for this piece in the future remains uncertain.
